It was Carter’s first Halloween and he smiled a toothless grin as his mom slipped on his bright orange pumpkin outfit. Gentle breezes passed over his face on this unseasonably warm sunny day. The windows were open and leaves were dancing in the garden as if trying to get our attention.
Curiosity pulled me towards the window and in the leaf-covered garden stood the most radiant white lily spotlighting Caroline’s angel statue! Lilies do not bloom in late October in New England-how did this beauty of nature blossom to perform such a task? Jen had seen this sole lily earlier in the day and we both immediately realized that it was Caroline’s special way of visiting to tell us that she too wanted to celebrate Halloween.
I quickly ran outside with my camera and I snapped away at this most miraculous moment. Perfect and pure this single white lily seemed to smile and pose perfectly as it continued to highlight Caroline’s angel.
