We are not meant to effort, struggle, and control our weight off, seriously! My business coach Kelly Oneil asked us to write down our top three-five fears so we can have awareness for what is stopping us in business. I started thinking about what these fears were for me. The obvious came up; fear of failure, fear of success, fear of money … my good friend Geoff Laughton made an incredible point that all of these stemmed from fear of trust. The light bulb went off for me … this is truly what it is.
At what point in your life did someone tell you it wasn’t ok to just trust? Maybe they didn’t say it to you directly, but it was implied. I know I heard things like, “money doesn’t grow on trees” “if you want to be successful you must work hard” “go to college, get an education so you can have a real job.” Then as I entered the beginning stages of my business I heard things like “maybe you should go back to working at twenty-four hour fitness where clients are steadier” or “maybe you should go back to personal training instead of just coaching since you made money that way.” In all these cases I chose trust, I just wasn’t aware that the “trust” path would be so scary and lonely.
If you feel like you have to put tons of effort into your weight loss, you are wrong. If you think you need to struggle to be thin, you are off. If you think you can successfully control your weight for the rest of your life, you will not be so happy in that body.
