Who or What Is God?

Over the last few days I’ve been thinking about who or what is “God.” But then again, who doesn’t think about this? Next to “is there life after death?” it’s right up there as one of the all time biggest questions mankind has theorizes about since … well, mankind ever knew how to theorize about anything.

For this question I did what I often do when faced with a fairly important question (like who or what is God), I asked my dog, and good friend, Zoey. As strange as this may sound, you would be surprised at just how adept this animal is at helping me come to obvious conclusions.

On a side note here, Zoey is a four-year-old rescue dog (actually, who rescued who is still up for debate). She is of mixed blood (I think a lab/border collie mix)—also note here, we don’t use the “mutt” word around our house since this will provoke an immediate scowl from Zoey.

Anyway, back to the big question. I sat Zoey down in front of her favorite place, her dog bowl, and looked into her very sweet, very large brown eyes (eye contact is imperative), and asked, “Zoey, who or what is God?” Zoey did what she always does when you ask her a silly or obvious question—she just smiled. Then she stepped closer, looked deeper into my eyes, and her answer came flying into my mind in an instant … “I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you, I love you.” And I got it—that’s what God is.
