Faith-Sized Risks

Having faith has always been one of my favorite things to talk about. I consider myself a woman of great faith. However, faith to some means never appearing irrational to those around us. We want to look right and talk right and not raise any eyebrows. But faith requires leaping—leaping into the unknown. We are not to know what is happening and have all our ducks in a row before we “walk by faith.” If we want to soar with the eagles, then we have to take some faith-sized risks!

So many people have asked me, “How do I know when it is me trying to do something or is it God?” My answer: ask Him! He wants you to know. James 4:2 tells us we have not because we ask not. James 1:5 tells, “If anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God …” He wants us to ask Him. He is our loving Heavenly Father and He not only wants us to ask Him, but He also wants to tell us the answer. His instructions require us to have faith and sometimes that faith is huge; we may have to do something that seems like it is crazy! So many times in the Word of God people had to do what seemed like “crazy” things that God had instructed them to do, like marching around a wall and shouting it down, walking into an enormous sea only to have the ground become dry upon entering. We read in the Bible where so many had to take faith-sized risks. They had to ask God what He wanted, and then they had to take some type of action.

As a child of God, it is our responsibility to stand on the Word of God that has been given to us. In the happenings of this world, we are not to look around at doom and gloom and be led by the news media. We are to be led by the Spirit of God and His Word, which He has already given us! We are to stand on the promises He has given to you and to me. We are not to be worried because the Word of God already told us: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians 4:6. This one scripture says, do not worry about anything, pray, spend time with your Heavenly Father, be thankful, and ask God. Very simple right!

We are to take a faith-sized risk at this time in our world’s history and ask God what we are to do. Then we are to search out His Promises in His Word and stand on them. No matter what it looks like on the outside, if God has told you to do it, then step out and stand on what He says.

Today why not take a faith-sized risk when the world wants to talk of doom, gloom, and lack. Why not talk right back about promises, encouragement, and prosperity? Try it and see what happens!
