Carl Jung had discovered the meaning of the symbolic dream language, observing that there are a few personages who frequently appear in everyone’s dreams. These personages are the archetypes. Archetypes are very important dream symbols found also in artistic representations and religious manifestations in all existent civilizations and historical times.
One of the most important figures represented in dreams is the figure of the shadow. The shadow is our negative self. It may also contain positive characteristics of our personality that didn’t attain the conscious level and remain unknown. However, its influence is always negative.
Jung ignored the roots of human absurdity because he didn’t continue his research in the unknown region of the human psyche. His definitions were obscure and vague. He would delay too much explaining the origin of a symbol, but without really explaining its meaning.
I continued his research from the point where he left off. I discovered that the shadow is as powerful as the unconscious mind. It is the anti-conscience, the wild side of our conscience that didn’t evolve like our human side.
Jung couldn’t see that the shadow was a true demon like I did. I named it anti-conscience because it works against our human conscience, trying to destroy it through absurdity in order to control our behavior.
Jung’s description of the shadow gives us the impression that it is simply a brother or sister who has opposite characteristics from ours. It is for him, a part of our personality that didn’t have the chance to evolve. He couldn’t see that it occupies the biggest part of our brain and provokes mental illnesses and mental disorders within our human conscience.
He was right for considering the shadow as our negative twin brother or sister; however the shadow is more powerful than our human conscience. It is in fact, our mother. It is idiotic because it didn’t evolve; but smart enough to mislead our human conscience with its absurd suggestions.
Our mind is an open field. We have to fight against the wild anti-conscience instead of accepting his selfish ideas and its wickedness without criticism. It can only lead us to despair because its intention is to destroy our humanity.
The anti-conscience represents Satan inside us, and the wise unconscious mind represents God. We are human beings, concentrated in the tiny part of our brain that has human characteristics.
God and Satan are fighting for our attention. God tries to eliminate the shadow and make us shine, while Satan wants to destroy our humanity so that it may control our behavior, and spread terror everywhere.
The anti-conscience is a demon because it didn’t evolve. We have to transform this demon into a human being by following the wise guidance of the unconscious mind in our dreams, and by following the lessons we received through our religions. Goodness is the only antidote against evilness.
Our purpose in life must be to transform the demon we come from into a wise human being, so that we may be able to live peacefully and happily instead of suffering the way we do.
