I had a crazy dream last night.
I was outside, camping. I don’t know who I was with but that didn’t matter. I was assigned the task of making breakfast. So I whipped up some waffle batter. Before I got ready to cook it, I made a nice big pile of white all purpose flour, and topped it off with melted butter. (So the waffles wouldn’t stick?) I didn’t quite understand what I was doing, but this was a dream you know ... not one where I was really in it doing stuff, but sort of watching myself.
So now it’s time to cook my waffles. I take the batter and dump it on the flour. It comes out in the perfect shape of a waffle! Amazing! I then transfer it to a vat of waiting hot grease. Watch it fry … now the next one … and the next one. I pull them out of the oil perfectly browned, with the exception of one or two that I’ve burnt to a crisp. I look at them lying on a paper towel.
Then I wake up. Weird dream. I know this isn’t possible. I’m a pretty good cook in real life ... maybe I’m on to something? Nah, it’s just a dream. So I look it up to see what it could possibly mean.
“Frying food ... a dream of frying anything indicates unhappiness in love, unless you burned it, in which case you will soon be consoled.”
Well, that’s a relief.
Considering the love of my life walked out, another walked in with a woman living in his home ... another only seems to want one thing ... how in the world did my brain correlate frying food with my unhappiness in love?? Amazing isn’t it? Dreams are really more than just R.E.M. sleep in action.
