Dreams

I love to dream and often enjoy pondering my dreams and trying to interpret what they mean. Some people say they never dream. We know that everyone dreams but some people don’t have any recall of dreaming. Here are some tips that can help you recall dreams and bring your unconscious into consciousness:

  • Try to awaken naturally without the help of an alarm clock. If you do need an alarm clock, put a reminder on it so you see it first, “remember your dream.”
  • Place a pad and pen, laptop, or tape recorder next to your bed and record what you remember as soon as you wake up.
  • If you do remember a dream, try to make a connection between the dream and recent events. Look for themes or patterns.
  • Try to change the dream by remaining in that barely awake zone before you fully wake up and “daydream” a different outcome. This is called lucid dreaming.
  • Dream memories are often fragmented. Think about the fragments to train your mind to recall dreams in detail.
  • Try to sleep without sleep aids or alcohol. Make sure you are allowing enough time for sleep.

Throughout history and in all cultures, dreams have been valued for their “messages” and ability to access other dimensions of awareness and knowledge. By consciously trying to remember dreams, we can open up those windows.

I think it's all in her head. When i was 6 years old I had a dream that scared the hell out of me. I got up and told the Good Lord that i never wanted to have another dream. That was at least 70 years ago. I never had a dream since that day. People say that you have but you just forget them. That may be true, if it is, than i have a good forgettor.

When I was pregnant with my first and second child, i had dreams letting me know what sex they would be. I did not try to find out before the birth even if they did have the technology back in the 60's. My first child was a boy and I dreamed that he would be and it turned out to be true. The second dream was a little more bizarre in that I dreamed that I had twins, a boy and a girl. However, the boy was a year old and my second child a girl was just a baby. The astounding thing about this dream is that all their school life and everywhere I would go with them as they got to be 2 and 1 and older was that everyone thought that they were twins. Now, isn't that weird? This phenomen kept up through their high school years too. I used to have lots of dreams that came true. but alas, now I can't seem to remember what my dreams are. I have more nightmares that I remember than good dreams. Perhaps, that comes with aging. I liked your article.
