Sweet Dreams Do Come True

A week before Thanksgiving in 2007, I had a dream about making some miniature pecan tarts. Now I am not a cook, not even an average cook. I learned to cook a roast when I got a slow cooker. Put it in, forget about it, and it’s tender and delicious versus baby it and it would be so tough a chainsaw wouldn’t cut it. So a dream about cooking was weird.

It was Thanksgiving and I wanted to take dessert to my boyfriend’s mom’s house. So I made some very average miniature pecan tarts. You know the kind, the miniature graham cracker crust with an ordinary pecan filling. They were okay, nothing great. Although everyone was amazed that I had cooked something that I would bring out in public.

But I kept thinking, “This is not the dream.” In my dream the pecan tarts were a glistening, gorgeous looking, made my hands tremble because I wanted one kind of confection. In my dream my mouth went “Mmmmmmm” at the fabulous, unique, and rich blend of flavors.

So began 2008 and I became compulsive about making the dream. I developed my own special blend of flavors. I found a phyllo shell, of which I had never used before, in a grocery store I hated to go into. (I still don’t know how I ended up in that store!)

Making sixty at a time my kids and boyfriend would devour them and ask for more. After making hundreds I realized I had made the dream. The look, the taste ... everything was the dream!

In January 2009 I suffered a serious back injury in a car accident which ended my career as a assistant clothing store manager. Wondering what to do my family said I should sell my Pecan Candy Cups. I let family and friends taste them and they said they would buy them. I got some small candy boxes and sold three for $3.00 at a friends clothing store. I always sold out. When people saw them their hands would tremble from anticipation! They couldn’t hand me their money fast enough. Everyone mmmmmmmmmmmm’s when they eat it.

Now I have a bustling business, Kristi Lyn Confections. My website is kristilynconfections.com

This dream and the making of it come true are all proof of Gods ability to help us do what we never would have thought of and do it in excellence and with great success.
