It was just a couple of weeks ago when Angela and I heard about YERT. The name itself demands attention, ironically because of its apparent meaninglessness. But YERT is most certainly not lacking in the meaning department. Your Environmental Road Trip, in fact, means so much to Mark Dixon, Ben Evans, and Julie Dingmon Evans, that they left behind their previous lives, homes, and places of employment, to embark on a yearlong journey through all fifty states. They call it an eco-expedition and they draw upon their humor, performance backgrounds, and creativity as they explore America’s diverse, and sometimes downright eccentric, approach to climate change.
Mark, Ben, and Julie convey an alternative approach themselves. And that’s precisely what garnered the attention of the staff at EcoBrain. In particular, YERT’s take on garbage: Each month of their road trip, the trio has managed to keep all the garbage each of them has produced in three shoe boxes. But it goes further than that. The YERT team is endeavoring to keep these shoe box garbage receptacles with them, in their Ford Escape Hybrid, for the duration of their trip. And that’s where we come into play! Because YERT is doing so much driving, learning and educating, and because they are so pressed for space, we decided they should be introduced to the garbage-free, space free entertainment and education benefits of eBooks. YERT responded enthusiastically and a fun, interesting and exciting partnership begun.
As Mark, Ben, and Julie document their travels and work on a follow-up documentary, they’ll be using EcoBrain titles for their research, ensuring that the research they do and the education material they use for their project is almost entirely carbon neutral. Not only that, but they’ve listed EcoBrain on their Web site as an official sponsor. Every time somebody visits YERT.com, clicks through the EcoBrain link and purchases an EcoBrain book, EcoBrain will donate a healthy portion of that sale to YERT and their efforts.
If you’re interested in supporting YERT, consider buying a book from EcoBrain by visiting this site, clicking on the link, and going shopping. To learn more about YERT’s adventures, Mark, Ben, and Julie, please visit yert.com
