I leave it alone! I shampoo 3 times a week, air-dry, don't color or perm, and hardly ever use styling products. It feels great, and it looks pretty good too (but it'll look better after it grows a little).

I maintain my long, beautiful hair by sleeping on a silk charmeuse pillowcase, every night. It keeps my hair from tangling and looking a mess in the AM. I have been sleeping on silk charmeuse pillowcases for over 10 years and I NEVER get split ends. The silk also feels cool and very luxurious and it is supposed to be very good for the skin. I found some fabulous looking printed silk pillowcases (butterflies, paisleys) in beautiful colors and they are machine washable. I cannot sleep without my silk pillowcase ad take it with me everywhere.

To begin with, I always use salon products. although there are ones at wal-mart just as good... if hair is colored, use shampoos and conditioners for your hair type, plus color...comb through conditioner in shower with very wide comb, and rinse in almost cold water. (Saves Color) Only wash every 2 days unless hair is too oily... always add oil when straightening, and I let my hair air dry. Its also bad to wrap it up wet in the towel...avoid products with alot of alcohol. Bed Head after party is good.

I keep my hair "Locks" looking lovely by first of all not washing it everyday like I used to when I was younger. I also find that using a deep conditioner once a week that you leave on your hair for 20 minutes also keeps my hair in very fine condition. I have very long layered color treated & highlighted hair. I would like to think that it is one of my best features. So keeping it looking amazing is important to me. I have learned that you don't need to spend a lot of $$$ to have gorgeous hair, you just need to take time to take care of it. That is what I do. I tend to it, like a garden, making sure to keep it trimmed, hydrated & nourished!

I wash my hair and then afterwards before I dry it I put in a smoother cream and then a liquid that helps gloss and keep friz away when I blow dry it with a round brush. I have to do this because my hair is wavy and I need to pull it straight with some curl. My stylist showed me how to do this and what products to use because it was driving me crazy but this really works for me.

I invested about $50.00 in a filter for my showerhead, and cannot believe the difference in my hair. I was having a horrible time with my colored blonde hair picking up weird tones. I was told it might be chlorine in my water, so I decided to give the filter a try. Not only does the cleaner water keep my color fresh, it seems to be in better condition too. A bonus is that my skin is not dry anymore.
11.22.2009 Report
I would of never thought a good hairbrush would make all the differenc in the world. A good boar hair bristle brush will run you in the $100 mark but the shine that it gives hair is the ultimate payoff. The brush lasts forever not like the cheap ones from the drug store that pull hair and cause breakage. The boar bristles condition your hair as time progresses and the bristles do not fall out. It has made a world of a difference for my hair and it is an investment I'm glad I made.
bare essentials. i wouldnt go without it. sisnce ive been using it for last 2 years, ill never go back to liquid r reular powder.

Let dry for at least 12 minutes before putting on volumizer and good and dry on medium only leaving hair slightly damp.

The best way for me to have better looking hair is to get a good cut. This is not easy since so few hairdressers can cut it properly or rather will take the time to do so.
11.21.2009 Report
My hairdresser convinced me that I did not need to wash my hair everyday, and that if I only washed every other day that my hair would be a lot healthier. I took her advice and I think allowing a bit of oil in my hair has made a big difference. I thought it would look dirty, but it doesn't and actually looks a lot fuller.

Since I have very thick hair with a mind of its own, I've tried just about every product to bring it in submission!
I send for free samples of different brands hoping to find a shampoo and conditioner that will work for me. I was pleasantly surprised when I tried the Head & Shoulders samples. For once, my hair wasn't limp after using conditioner and actually had more body!. The fragrance leaves such a clean, fresh feeling too. Use the shampoo and conditioner together for maximum benefit. Another tip is to not brush wet hair, don't tease hair since this breaks hair and causes split ends and don't spray your hair into an unmovable mess. Clean, shiny healthy hair that moves is the way to go!

Towel dry most of the moisture from your hair before your start applying heat from your hair dryer. Use conditioning and/or styling products that have heat protecting ingredients (like silicon) to protect your hair while you dry it. Once a month I do a mayonaisse conditioning treatment for my hair. I leave it on for 20 minutes, apply heat using a hair dryer, and always rinse it out with COLD water. It leaves my hair so unbelievably shiny and smooth and the effect holds for weeks.

I have an oily/itchy scalp and dry ends so once a week I put Aloe Vera on my scalp and Jajoba Oil on my ends. It's best to leave it on your hair for at least half an hour; I do this while I'm cleaning or doing chores around the house on weekend mornings. After washing it out, my hair looks and feels fabulous.... I get so many complaments on my hair and they are always nice to here.

I am a nautral blonde with very fine hair. If I don't wash EVERY DAY, my hair looks greasy. As I get older, my hair has also begun to look frizzy on the ends (even with requent hair cuts).I cannot use many products becasue they weigh my hair down. The wonderful gift of being a natural blonde is a nightmare when it comes to hair care. I have tried every imaginable product out there over the years and would welcome any new ideas to try. My own tricks include using Neutragena Anti-Residue Shampoo once a week, a good trim every 6 weeks, changing my daily shampoo every couple of weeks and using very little conditioner. I have found that CATWALK Root Boost is light enough fo nights on the town and John Frieda Sheer Blonde Crystal Clear hair spray is good on non-rainy days.

The best thing I ever did is to get keratin treatment for my hair. It makes my hair so incredibly silky and smooth. No frizz. And so easy to dry.... cuts the drying time in half. Can't believe I only found out about this 6 months ago! This has changed my life!

I agree taking Omega 3s and flaxseed oil and highly effective especially in menopause and using sulfate-free products. An important point is to make sure styling proiducts do not contain alcohol-if using heat. Having dry hair, I use a small amount of moisturizer mixed with my styling product-especially when in the sun-it is like a hot oil treatment. But the most important thing is to replace your shower head with a filtered one, at hardware stores, to keep the chemicals in our drinking water off you hair and scalp. Huge benefits!

My hair had become FRIZZY, no amount of conditioner, gels, or treatments seemed to make much difference. Then I started taking FISH OIL capsules with my daily vitamins, my hair has become soft and smooth again! Maybe I had some kind of deficiency, I don't know. I am just happy to be frizz-free!
Once a month I use the old standard standby of Mayo... Put on dry hair until coated, put on a shower cap and leave in hair for at least an hour, then shampoo. My hair is thick so one shampoo does it for me, if your hair is thinner you may need to wash a couple times. I've been doing this for 20 years and my hair is smooth, silky and shiney

I have very long, red hair with highlights. My hair extends past my buttocks and I often find myself sitting on it. Theoretically, my hair should be heavily damaged with all the processing, flat ironing and blow drying I subject it to. However, my hair is soft, shiny and manageable because of all the time I invest in it. I use the Morroccan products, specifically the oil which not only smells scrumptious but is a miracle worker for the hair. I apply it before and after blow drying. I air dry my hair until merely damp, then blow dry the rest. I do a quick once over with the hot iron in the end to seal in the moisture and prevent the frizzies.Twice a week, I deep condition my hair, sleep with the conditioner wrapped first in plastic bags and then in a towel, locking in heat for the night. After a quick hair wash in the morning,my hair is as soft and manageable as could be.I ALWAYS cover my hair when in the sun, protecting it from exposure just as I do with my skin.Hydrating the body is so

The most important thing I have started doing for my hair is to use a heat protecting product on it before I dry/curl/straighten my hair. I have naturally wavy hair that fortunately doesn't need much in the way of styling - I usually just air dry it and go. But to do this, conditioning is essential! I keep a wide tooth comb in the shower and always comb out my hair while the conditioner is still on before being rinsed out. I find it to be much easier to detangle, much less damaging and the conditioner stays on my hair longer which is always good.

My secret is braiding my hair at night after I shower and then when I wake up it is almost dry and I just towel dry it and then use the blow dryer for a minute. Head & Shoulders got rid of my problem quickly!
I have thick (but fine) curly hair, and I'm not totally sure I have the "perfect" hair care routine...but I try to stay away from harsh sulfates in my shampoo, moisturize regularly, and I use Herbal Essences mousse to keep my curls lovely. =)

I'm a curly girl, so I'm evangelical about deep conditioning treatments. The best haircare item I've ever spent $$$ on was small, hard shell portable hood dryer. I strive to do a Wella brand Kolesterol treatments supplemented with coconut oil once a week for 20 minutes, which leaves me with Shirley Temple curls where I have ringlets & bouncy waves where I have less curl, not to mention the shine. You can also sleep, with a towel- if you can sleep with a plastic cap & towel on - for the same effect. People are also getting me very interested in the new "no poo" movement, which involves getting rid of shampoo altogether.
