The forthcoming year looks fairly promising from a personal perspective. Last week’s Friday saw me attending an HBZ Bank meeting at the Durban Branch in Grey Street. It was there that I received my increment letter for my salary adjustment. I was rather surprised to discover that HBZ Bank placed an unbelievably industry-competitive importance on their staff by promoting a few loyal hardworking individuals to the next salary bracket and by giving a rather generous increase to those who are at least attempting to make some form of difference to the overall effective functionality of the Bank (a far cry from what I had previously been exposed to).
Although it may appear fairly inappropriate for me to be speaking so highly of an organization considering my limited experience and exposure therein, history has a strange way of shaping people’s perceptions and my thoughts (I feel) are therefore comparatively fitting in this regard.
This year also saw me trying a number of various unorthodox means of substituting my income. These included selling GNLD health products and freelance writing on various Web sites. Both have been surprisingly profitable thus far. Maybe it’s because of the well established reputation of GNLD and the confident selling success stories of all their products (which I can bear personal testimony to) that assisted me in achieving some form of additional financial freedom, or maybe I’m just plain lucky. Also, it helps sometimes to pursue certain pastimes which interest you because you may never know just how far your own hobbies may take you. I sometimes just write (or type) as a pastime. This interest is now earning me money from various Web sites. Who would have ever thought that you could actually be paid for doing what you honestly love?
2009? South Africa is slowly becoming more and more of a tourist destination with the advent of the Soccer Confederations Cup and World Cup right on our doorstep. Somebody’s going to capitalize. Now is the time to jump on, I guess. I was always told that regardless of the situation, you always have two choices in life. The time to make the right choice is now because who knows what lies in wait.
