My father lives 30 minutes away so we could go stay with him for a while. Then I would work at any job I could find.

I would live with my mother who is one of the nicest people in the world. Then I would work any job where I can get at least minimum wage.

I would go and get any job I could possibly get. With that money I would pay for food and gas and medicine. I would then try to find a second job to pay the mortgage if needed.

I would rely on my parents for a place to stay. And I would look for employment everywhere. If I had a hard time finding permanent employment, I would go to a temporary service and take open jobs that they might have. I have had luck at getting permanent employment this way before, once they see that you are a good worker. Once I got employment and enough for a new place to live on my own, I would really downsize my living quarters to a very small studio apartment in order to save money. I would really super organize things and only keep the most needed and wanted items in the apartment. Other items would be stored in a self storage or at family or friends place. Once I have saved enough money, maybe a bigger living quarters could be in reach in the future.

Local Salvation army or other food pantry or DHS for food, family, local housing authority or various shelters for a place to stay and the internet at the library or a friends for job searching.

I know before it got too bad I have an uncle 3 hours away that has a huge house and garage that is completely furnished. He also has a condo in MD and a summer home. If I got into a bad situation I am pretty sure he would be there for us. My parents also have a summer trailer/winter trailer and I know they would let us stay in the one they were not in. Luckily I am a Vocational Counselor so I am pretty sure I could find myself and husband jobs (would not be super picky initially). Because of working in the field of Social Services for 20 years I know about many programs that can help with rental assistance, utilitiy assistance, food pantries, and worst case scenarios homeless shelters. Obviously, I don't wish this fate on anyone but I feel that if we were put into a horrible situation such as this we would be o.k. We are pretty frugal most of the time and have been a bit more careful since the economic downturn began.

My family is amazing and I know that they would help me get back on my feet if it got to that point. As for myself I would be out pounding the pavement every day.

I've often thought of that question since both parents are deceased and I'm stubborn as heck; I'd never impose upon anyone unless my child was involved and then I'd swallow my pride.
For myself, I suppose I'd just lie down and die. I'm not much of a fighter :(

I would work in any job available, fast food, or farm labor. what ever it would take.
