NOTICE OF EVICTION

My heart is breaking

Tears in my eyes start falling

Three weeks I was given

To vacate this house and leave.

It really hurt my feeling

For this was the ultimate of my dreams

Since I was a child I’ve been wishing

To be in America for better living

I achieve hard to fulfill my dreams

Suddenly it became gloomy and dim

I worked hard to have this house

I had even have to double job

It hails my pride and very proud

It meant success and I am glad.

Working two shifts a day was exhausting

But I have to do this to earn a living

To pay my bills and keep life going

And to keep my mortgage in good standing.

I know your tears and I am sorry.
For a Filipino immigrant or US citizen (or even a tourist on sojourn) working in America is solely for the sake of spurning the rampage of poverty in the home country. The American dream is a misnomer unless the dreamer's sole intention is to impose upon himself/herself the mission of etching his/her life into the core of American life and for the greater good of the host country. Earning dollars to alleviate the economic and social conditions of one's family in the country of origin cannot qualify as a direct conjunction to one's search for the American Dream as typified by the claims of those who come to America and yet fail to make it big on the dollar by wasting their efforts trying to live it up and consume their earnings by trying to mimic the behavior of people they cannot hope to approximate. The American dream is premised on hard work and good money not on luck or chance.Wanna bet?
