Faint Heart

I am just a drifting poet
Lost in my own reality,
Waking up from a dream.
The silence from me
Is so eloquent
You could feel you don’t exist.

But have you been in my dreams?
Do you breathe the way I do?
While there’s so much going on
Around you, there’s so much
Going on in me.

Do you see the world I see,
Do you feel the turmoil in me?
If you think with what you can only see,
I’m an unclimbable mountain,
An impermeable forest.
A faint heart never won the fair lady.

You waited for me to budge
And burst into a run
To your direction.
But you forgot to knock;
You can wait forever.
You had the key, but you
Didn’t know how to use it
So you’re not the only one
With insides screaming
It’s not my fault you can’t
Step out from dreaming,
And start fulfilling.

There’s two of us wanting
While asking for it all to stop,
Telling each other to stay away
Neither dared to close the gap.

It’s not only you who’s gotten
Ill, tired, and frustrated
It’s not only you who’s ruined, humiliated
But unlike you I don’t complain much
I just take what is offered
And live with it. With or without you.

Do you see the world I see,
Do you feel the turmoil in me?
If you think with what you can only see,
I’m an unclimbable mountain,
An impermeable forest.
A faint heart never won the fair lady.

Consider this a goodbye from me.
