Breathless

The doors opened and there you were.
I didn’t lift my head;
I knew I didn’t want to,
at least not just yet.

I walked to you at a pace that seemed to take forever;
but I was in no rush…

I heard nothing,
saw nothing,
yet I somehow managed to find a seat across from you;
blind faith!

Your feet so calm and relaxed;
a shade of chocolate I had never seen before.
Finely dressed and manicured, your sculpted toes
on feet that looked like they should be pressing grapes
into juice for the finest of wines …

Your ankles and calves swept with curves
silhouetted by the sunlight
more beautiful than the morning sun coming over the horizon
and warming the earth with a garden of light.

Your flowered dress,
the baby blues of the sky
with yellow daisies the color of the sun
and green stems that grow tall and curve, as you stand.

Your chocolate-shaded hands gently grasp the pole beside you
The charge of your presence goes through eight long cars
filled with admiring souls who seem paralyzed with awe

The scent you cast off of your chocolaty-brown satin skin
has absorbed sunlight
and radiates a soothing warmth
to everything far and near …

Courage has come to me.
Before, I did not dare to peek,
but I know now that if I don’t view you whole and complete
that void in my mind can never be filled.

Your balanced lips
so well defined with love-lines
creased top and bottom
filled with
succulent juices of
sweet
black
plums
sit below a nose that breathes in energy and releases it ten-fold.

And those eyes
oh,
those eyes,
speak to me in a language only we can
understand.

We smile.
I am so glad to have met you.
