Summer

She wanted to be the summer
Lost in tall grass meadows with
The hum of insects and the sound
Of birdcalls and the lushness of green
Dotted with purple, yellow, white
Waving like the ocean in the
Sunshine breeze and she holds
Out her arms and lays back her head
As she drinks in the scent, the warmth
The brush of the butterfly’s wings
As it meanders past her cheek
