I do not ask the stars to shine
The rain to pour, or the wind to whine
I do not ask the sun and moon
I do not ask anything of you
I make a point to give not take
I look for things to celebrate
I do not ask the moon to rise
I do not seek to change the tides
For ocean, moon, and stars demand
Nothing from these human hands
I do not ask for springtime blooms
Not clouds to rain nor birdsong tunes
I marvel at the spider’s web
The gentle breeze and ocean’s ebb
I smile and my heart continues on
With love though you are gone.
