Why I Know God is Real: The Gifts of the Spirit (Part One)

I have decided to write a series of weekly articles on the Gifts of the Spirit and some of the many miracles I have experienced. I have taught on this subject in many nations: Canada, El Salvador, India, Sri-Lanka, Israel, The Philippines, and Uganda. I think this series will be a blessing and help many who are going through diverse trials and difficult problems that seem impossible to overcome.

I have suffered very much in my life; however, God has been very good to me. He as allowed me to be a part of some of the most incredible answers to prayers and miracles; perhaps since the days of the early first century church.

Many people, all over the world have asked me why I seem to enjoy such a close relationship with God. I am not certain. I do not have all the answers!

All I can tell you is: I have always believed in a supernatural world, I love God with all my heart, I spend hours a day in prayer, I have a very simple faith and I love people of every race, creed and color. I am also considered a very kind, gentle man, quick to forgive others.

However, I have also made terrible mistakes. I entered into a marriage with a girl who was having trouble with strong demonic forces. I thought I could save her. I loved her. In the end she turned against me and nearly cost me everything, including my life. From that marriage I learned a tragic lesson-you cannot make anyone be good-and I learned that lesson well.

The purpose for this series is to encourage the readers of divinecaroline to believe in miracles and distinct answers to prayer. To know without question that this world is not the only reality.

There is a God who loves us. And there is a spiritual world that surrounds us. A world full of miracles, signs, wonders and excitement. Many of our loved ones have passed into that world. They are living in a paradise that we could never imagine.

I love women. I have many women friends. They far outnumber my male friends and (like Christ) I have always considered women equal to me in everyway. That is as it should be. It was a woman who encouraged me to turn to God. A woman taught me how to sell. It was a woman who taught me how to ride and train horses. And it was a woman who helped me to train for my first Black belt test.

Perhaps with these articles, I can give something back to women. I can be a blessing to them in a more tangible way. You certainly have been a blessing to me.

I dedicate this series to my sister Darriel. She died of cancer three years ago. She was only forty-seven and looked much younger. She died while I was away from God, backslidden, angry and feeling sorry for myself; because of the destruction of my marriage.

Like the prodigal son, I turned to sordid behavior and terrible living. Perhaps God would have healed her. We have seen dramatic healings. I will never know. And I will never forgive myself for being away from God at such a crucial time, when my sister needed me.

Many of the things that I will tell, will be difficult to believe. However, there are many witnesses to each event. Christ himself told us that if we meet certain conditions “We could share in his Spirit.” Why would he lie? He did not lie. He told us the exact truth.

There have been many through the years who have produced remarkable signs and wonders. Padre Pio immediately comes to my mind. This Holy Priest from Italy received constant and dramatic answers to prayer and carried the stigmata (signs of the crucifixion) on his hands and feet until his death in 1968. His purity and holiness was without dispute.
