What Did You Think of the Sex and the City Movie?

I bought a new dress. We bought tickets two weeks in advance. We made reservations at the swankiest restaurant in the city and had a round (alright, a few) of cosmos (duh) before heading to the theater. The line to get our seats was around the block. Nearly three hours later, we walked out pissed off, disappointed, and wishing we had gotten another round (or three) of cosmos. I hated the Sex and the City movie. It didn’t channel the chills, heartfelt emotion, and depth of the series. What did you think?

I saw it once and now I'm like eh, there, I've seen it. It certainly lacked something the series had. I don't know; it just didn't have me in that, "NY frame of mind". Once you got into the series you slipped into the show, even with the edited versions on TBS, I'm there. With the movie, I just didn't get there. The laughter didn't tickle as much, the tears didn't sting as much, the wit just wasn't as witty. Though I'd watch again if I had nothing else to do and would definitely watch a second one if it came out.

I loved it and was disappointed all at the same time. On a strictly fluffy, chick-flick level it was great. But I was disappointed in the way Big treated Carrie. When he was upset with the wedding planning and said it was his 3rd time, I really wanted her to say "but it's my FIRST, Mr. Selfish!" And I would have liked a little more work on getting them back together, if they even got back together.

I don't know. Mr. Big is hot and sexy and a nice guy, for the most part, but he also can treat Carrie like shit and she consistently takes it.

But then again, it was just a movie and the fluff factor was fantastic! :)

I gave it a C+. I disliked the message.
I wanted to watch it with my sisters in NYC but it didn't happen. When I got back home in Miami I saw it with all of the women in my family, mother, aunt, and cousins!

We loved it!!!

I loved it when carrie said that there are an alloted number of tears for a guy. I am paraphrasing but I loved it. I loved the girl chemistry. They are great together!

I want to buy it when it comes out on DVD or whatever techie device is out there when it does come out.

I loved it! But the weird thing was I saw it THREE times and each time I liked it MORE!! It was perfect. I thought the little horney dog was a bit overdone....but that was it. I will buy it the minute it comes out for sale.

I agree that the movie was a bit lackluster for me as well. The fact that the series was a power-packed thirty minutes of commentary, humor, fashion and sex, begged the one hundred-twenty minute movie to deliver more than Mr. Big "finally" getting his act together (although we never saw the "work") and marrying Carrie. I knew that "Big" would ride in and get his woman, however I have always wanted his elusive persona scrutinized more to render him a man worthy of Carrie's love. I think I got a little wound up about Sex and the City! I loved seeing the girls together again, though!

Aside from the New Year's Eve montage, the movie didn't kill me. I laughed aloud once and shed a tear or two, but the series was much better.

Loved it! I went in expecting to be disappointed because rarely are movies made from TV shows any good. But I was utterly satisfied. The girls looked beautiful and were hilarious. I laughed, I cried...can't wait to see it again!

i would love to love and be loved a woman with that kind of attitude like the stars in the Sex and the City.. But, eventually, the only thing that i like is the sex.. and perhaps the City.. lol
