What Movies Have You Walked Out On?

Batman, played by George Clooney, whips out his Goth credit card and states, “Never leave the cave without it!” Bridget Jones and dozens of imprisoned Thai women belt out “Like a Virgin” and dance around with their bras worn on the outside of their clothes. Classic movie moments? No—more like stomping-out-of-the-theater moments.

I’d rather throw ten bucks down the drain than waste any time watching a bad movie.

What about you? What movie (or movies) have you walked out on?

"Spice World." Even as an eleven-year-old, I knew when my dignity was being threatened.

Freddy got Fingered - my boyfriend at the time dragged to see it. Needless to say, we both walked out in the middle of the movie.

Many years ago, while having a beer with an old friend in down town Mpls, MN . I saw that Conan the Barbarian was playing across the street. I said let's go see if it's any good and we got in line. Ahead of us were two couples about college age. The two women were complaining that the movie was going to be a real turkey. They were really giving their guys a tough time. So, without anything to base it on I spoke up and said,, "I hear it's a pretty good movie." The guys immediately spoke up in agreement and the girls remaind silent. We found seat down front - it was crowded - and settled in. After about five minutes I realized that the movie was not worth watching. My friend wanted to stay. I got up and started up the aisle. I had only taken about five steps when this voice said, loud and clear, and very sarcastic, "I HEAR IT'S A PRETTY GOOD MOVIE." I just hung my head and kept walking. She really nailed me.

Girls Just Want to Have Fun (1985) - Simply boring, even for the teenager I was at the time.

The Devil's Advocate (1997) - Creeped me out a little too much to sit through the rest of it.

Ishtar....but that should just go without saying. I even saw it on a military base where movies were 1 or 2 dollars at the time. Bad, Bad, Bad!

I am a huge movie buff and have seen six films since Christmas day. I love a good cry and I am in heaven when a film is long and slow and sprawling and perhaps a period piece. The only film I ever walked out of was "The Deerhunter" I had seen it already and it was playing a few years later near where I had three hours to kill. When the scene came up where De Niro is using the flame-thrower I left my seat and staggered out onto the street where it took me a moment to recover. I am always deeply moved with cinematic displays of mans inhumanity to man. That said. I saw "The Reader" today and was touched to the core at the moment Hanna reads the word "The". The realisation that Michael was doing such a sweet deed in a state of repentance made me weep. I want everyone to go out and see "The Reader". Winslett is as brilliant as she was in "Little Children" and bares as much skin!

I guess I'm an incurable optimist because I've never walked out on a movie. I just keep hoping that the first part is the awful one and that it will somehow redeem itself eventually! The one that I remember that was the hardest to sit through, however, was "The Postman" with Kevin Cosner! Whoever put this thing together didn't have two minutes of worthwhile material in the whole shibang!
