When it comes to directors, I consider Wes Anderson one of the most reliably impressive ones. With amazing movies like Bottle Rocket, Rushmore, and The Royal Tenenbaums under his belt, he’s well known for creating characters as genuine as they are complex, razor-sharp dialogue, and some of the best soundtracks in cinematic history. So when I heard he was delving into the world of digital animation with The Fantastic Mr. Fox, released in theaters across the country November 25, I couldn’t wait to see the results.
It’s a story about a husband and father (voiced by George Clooney) who’s trying to reconcile being a good family fox with a raging midlife crisis. The movie also follows his outcast son, Ash (Jason Schwartzman), as he navigates the social hell of awkward adolescence. In the exclusive clip below, Ash is competing for a female fox’s attention with his cooler, more “normal” cousin. If the story line doesn’t draw you in, the unique animation style just might.
