NYC’s Top Interior Designers Gather for a Shimmering Elle Decor Evening

A dinner for NYC’s top interior designers, Steuben hosted a dinner for Elle Décor’s new editor-in-chief.
Steuben’s NYC flagship store shimmered in the soft glow of candlelight and sparkling crystal as some of the top interior designers in New York City gathered to celebrate and welcome Michael Boodro, who was named Elle Décor’s editor-in-chief this past August.

In attendance were some of the top New York interior designers, including Samuel Botero, Joanne de Guardiola and Alexa Hampton.

Cocktails were served on the mezzanine, where the designers were surrounded by a twinkling backdrop of the evening lights on Madison Avenue. Guests were also able to preview Steuben’s new collections for Winter 2011, including four new stemware patterns and the introduction of color—a first for Steuben in over seventy years. The dinner guests then moved downstairs to the main floor of the Steuben store, which had been transformed into a glittering winter wonderland for the evening.

A designer table fit for an interior designer.
A single long table, seating twenty-two, ran the length of the store and was decked with exquisite settings, including the Angles stemware collection used for the dinner service, as well as table top pieces from the Vee and Aspen Glade crystal candle stick collections.

Guests were seated at the elegantly appointed table, delicately covered with a soft grey on white snowflake design runner, and featuring many crystal elements designed to bring the outdoors in.

Elle Décor’s publisher, Barbara Friedman, and Anita Sarsidi, Elle’s design director, were in attendance as well as Eric Kohler, Mario Buatta, Milly De Chabrol, Brett Beldock, Alex Papachristidis and Ellie Cullman, among others.

A wonderfully whimsical touch at the end of the meal was a dessert of chocolate pot de crème served in the Vee hybrid glasses—an enticing reminder to all that quality stemware can look elegant and serve a multitude of purposes outside the traditional realm.

The evening was the perfect marriage of form and function—with the stellar surroundings providing the perfect backdrop for some of the best design talent New York City has to offer.
