Upside-Down Faces

Photographer Brandon Voges’s latest series, “Upside Downy Face,” is a fun look at what happens when people hang upside down for their portrait. Each model looks just a little bit angry, eyes bulging out a bit, veins filled. It’s a subtle effect, but very off-putting.

Having worked as an illustrator, motion graphics designer, and interactive art director, Brandon has some fun in this original series with an otherwise straightforward style of photography. According to his studio colleagues at Bruton Stroube, Brandon is drawn to photography that may cause bodily harm. Hopefully everybody made it through the shoot without injury.

The photographer was probably secretly trying to take pictures close to that of what the subjects would look like when they're on the toilet doing their business... tehee

Several of these portraits look like they were taken post-mortem. It's the way the face "settles" when upside-down, I reckon.
It feels good to write.
