Igniting the Craft Spirit

For some reason I’m having a hard time jumpstarting my creative spirit, so I thought I’d help you (and myself) find some wonderful spots to jump start your craftiness.

My first stop on our tour is Flickr. Why Flickr do you say? Because it’s a great place to jump start creativity. There is so much creativity on Flickr that it’s hard to take in. One think I love is the doll a week club—it’s a great way to use your kids toys and practice some photography. Abandoned might be a good one if you live somewhere you can take long walks. Or if you’re more into street art: Graffiti Archaeology. I find the free and creative colors of graffiti very inspiring.

Second stop—of course—etsy, which is great not only to buy, but to spark your own creativity! My favorite is the random search where you just use their tools, like Colors or Pounce—it’s hours of fun and potentially a great way to get ideas (or ahem spend a ton of cash).

Smashing magazine has creative spark from graphic designers. Or for more illustration fun, try the Urban Collective—wow, the art is worth a gander.

So, now that I’ve got your creative juices going—what will you create?
