Shop to Stop Medical Errors – Virtual Mall for Patient Safety

I am writing to express to you that I’ve been busy of late, with my shop and assisting two friends of mine, a husband and wife that are involved in a wonderful cause and they are determined to make a difference in this world for patients and the families.

Two  years ago, my friend Ronni lost her mother due to the Stage IV pressure sore that took her life shortly have returning to her long term care facility from a medical hospital, where she was a patient that originally went in for a routine partial hip replacement and came out with that sore, which was never reported to the state and the family were not informed. It was only discovered upon her arrival back at the home, where the staff always gives the patients a re-entry exam and that’s when it was discovered.

Since her mom’s death, she and her husband have been waging a war on a national stage and they got a lot of attention, action, but no definite changes in laws due the grip that the medical lobbyists have on the politicians. They were also appointed to the Board of Directors of the National Decubitus Foundation that noticed their exploits and they got more attention than the Foundation ever got. They really raised hell and they are not going to be quieted.

They’ve recently designed a simple blog, which is a virtual mall, a place where people can shop at many storefronts right from their home or office just by logging onto their site. The advertisers were kind enough to be a part of it. Ronni and her husband are going to run the site from this day forward with hopes of making a large contribution to both the National Decubitus Foundation in Colorado and the American Heart Association, which would be in honor of her husband’s mother.

Patient safety has got a long way to go and over 100,000 patients a year die from medical errors and pressure sores are one the major categories of errors along with being operated on the wrong body part or things left inside and medication errors.

It’s scary when you hear these horror stories and then you wonder, what would happen to my mother, father, daughter, son, friend, relative, neighbor, co-worker, or even myself. Imagine going into the hospital for simple procedure and then dying or becoming permanently injured. The accountability factor is missing in the hospitals and nursing homes and that’s the job of Edward Comfort of the NDF, that tries to educated the public and will be there if you ever need help, believe me, as he was a great help to Ronni in her hour of need.

The National Decubitus website is:   http://www.decubitus.org/

The “Shop to Stop Medical Errors-Virtual Mall for Patient Safety” is: http://cthomeimprovementcoupons.blogspot.com/

I’ve shopped there just the other day and I spent over an hour and half going to the different stores on their marvelous site and I tried not to spend too much as I like to be frugal but I did manage to spend a bit, but I got some marvelous merchandise in return.

If the readers of this super site would please stop by the virtual mall the next time you are online, check out the quality items sold at each of the storefronts, maybe make a purchase and by that, you will be helping two excellent causes that fight for people’s longevity.

May God Bless All of You and I wish you all a happy and healthy new year.

Sincerely,

Susan
