The most ridiculous story I have ever heard in the news on 9/24/09 titled “Old Growth Forests Felled for America’s Behind” explaining the ills of the public’s desire for soft toilet tissue. The story explains how Old Growth trees are felled primarily for the toilet tissue industry because of the public demand for soft paper products, which are produced from freshly cut wood rather than the harder tissue, products produced from recycled paper.
The article goes on to explain that environmentalists are concerned that the cutting of Old Growth trees harms the environment by reducing carbon dioxide, which is produced from trees because of their breathing process.
Excuse me, but isn’t it carbon dioxide that these same environmentalists want us to reduce because of Global Warming?
It would seem that cutting down the forests would be necessary these days in reducing greenhouse gasses.
Under the Global Warming doctrine carbon dioxide is a dangerous gas, which threatens the planet’s existence by trapping solar radiation received from the sun thus warming the planet to the point the polar ice caps would all melt.
Occasionally the big money making business, which the environmental movement in reality is, slips up in their quest to change our way of life to a green society. This is seen by their latest move to eliminate the plastic bags from grocery stores across the country for more biodegradable bags. The plastic bag idea was that of the environmentalists in the first place back in the 1970’s when they advised using plastic bags instead of paper to save trees from being felled to make the paper. Now after all these years suddenly plastic bags are more a danger to the environment than the lack of trees.
Since the Earth’s recent warming trend is a natural one rather than caused by industry (this can be proven by looking at NASA data, which shows that the entire solar system is going through a warming period) it will be followed shortly by a drastic cooling trend.
This has been the case since the Earth became suitable for life.
Within about twenty years, these same environmentalists will be telling us that the earth is cooling at an alarming rate and want society to adjust their industry accordingly.
This green movement is nothing more than a money making scheme devised by old hippies from the 60s in political office who are carrying their same flower child mindset of saving the squirrels and field rats back then to legislating their cult on the public today. What should be done is during the next national vote the Global Warming issue should be on the ballot allowing the public to decide whether they want to follow such a cultist idea or not.
The idea of electric cars is yet another idea, which does not make sense. It will not save a drop of crude oil since to charge them up either takes electricity, which uses crude oil to be produced, or their batteries get charged while using gasoline. The bottom line is that the hybrid costs twice as much as a standard automobile. Yet another example of how the public is saddled with the conversion to a cleaner environment.
The Green Idealism would be okay to follow if there were alternatives for us to use but there is not one idea in existence that would allow the American economy to prosper in going green. Our industry is built on the use of fossil fuels and nuclear energy and without a viable alternative the U.S. economy will become that of a third world nation by going green without a realistic energy source.
