Lawrence O’Donnell gave the last word on tonight’s MSNBC show to Rep. Kendrick Meek, from Florida, who’s giving up his sure seat in the House to run for the Senate … against what he called “two Republicans.”
Seems Meek hasn’t gotten much support from the Democratic powers that be.
He came across quite well. An Alan Grayson–style fighter, he said something to the effect of, If they want to cut Social Security, they’re going to have to go through me.
Maybe the Democrats figure that Crist (formerly a Republican, but running as an Independent after it looked like he would lose to a more conservative candidate, Rubio, who is running as a Republican) is a shoo-in and don’t want to go against him by backing Meek.
There’s something fundamentally wrong about this picture.
We … I mean, all of us … should not be looking down the road, trying to figure out how to twist and turn ourselves, in order to attain some perceived advantage at the end of that road, especially not some advantage that may not even materialize.
What happened to courage of convictions? I’m wondering, if we have to contort ourselves in order to attain something, should that something be attained?
