Oh, Hillary!

As a woman, an African-American, and a Democrat, this primary has been exhilarating for me! My eyes have never seen this much CNN in their entire life. But today I am very disappointed as a woman ... not because Hillary is not our party nominee. It is because of her behavior over not being selected. I was extremely disappointed in her speech earlier this week where she actually appeared to be “whining” about not winning and not at all acknowledging Senator Obama. Is this showing unity in our party? I was hoping she would redeem herself in her concession speech today and she did anything but concede! We all know it is over for her and she is very reluctantly stepping down, but she did not in any way, shape, or form say those words.

In her very colorful, girl-power way, she once again whined about not winning. Her first sentence: “This was not the party I was expecting …”—whining! It is like she just can’t let it go! It is like she is holding a grudge against the country (all except her precious eighteen million) and the delegates. She is stomping her feet and pouting. She also said she was “suspending her campaign”—does that say concede to you? She finally got to the point of acknowledging Obama and something happened that really floored me. When she began this speech, she was smiling, her voice was lifted, and she was sincere. As soon as she began her “support Obama” section, her body language completely changed!! Her smile was gone! Her voice was flat and deep, and her body taut and stoic. I could not believe my eyes! It was as if it was killing her to say the words!”

Oh, Hillary,” I kept saying to myself in utter disbelief, “This is SO not how we unify our party!” She was saying all the right words, but her face and her body were telling a different story. Not only that, her “let’s support Obama” piece was way too short! It was all overshadowed by her overwhelming sense of “it should have been me.” Didn’t she say that a couple of times, too? ”Oh, Hillary!” Her sense of entitlement truly bothers me! The whole thing reminds me of the movie Gladiator when Caesar chose Maximus over his own son—his only son—to rule instead of him. And what did his son do? If you saw the movie, you know what happened and what a big crybaby he was!

One thing I do believe is that she does want a Democrat in the White House. That is for certain, so she will support Obama for this election for that reason alone. Do I think she should be VP? Absolutely not! If I were the one having to choose, I wouldn’t pick her either. I think she would either constantly usurp my authority or hope I got assassinated. Okay … assassinated is too harsh … incapacitated. She will support him just enough to get him in there so she can watch him closely, take note of his every single move, and run against him—again—in four years.

That was a great descriptive telling of the entire event. Although I wasn't home to see it, I have heard the same from others. Reading this really made me feel like I actually got to see the speech. I think your usage of "Oh, Hilary" summed up the feelings of many party supporters who either saw the speech or heard about it. It really was a shame that she didn't take the higher road, she would have really gained at least the respect of those whose vote she didn't carry
The comment below that appears to be from me is actually from my sister who was using my computer at the time of reading this article. Contrary to popular belief, I do not have a split personality. Thanks for the support, sis!
DITTO! Say it ain't so Hillary! I was confused for a second because it seemed as if she was still running for president during that speech. People ranted and raved about how good it was and how she should have used it DURING HER CAMPAIGN. Ya think?! But now it's too late hon'! A day too late, 18 million votes too late, a fake smile too late, a scandal too late, and a speech too late. She is doing everything but unify the democratic party. In fact, she's pissing people off--at least she's pissed me off. Can you tell?
