Sarah Palin for Vice President

Governor Palin is running for Vice President of the United States. She has a lot of good ideas and is strong and stands behind her beliefs.

How Sarah Palin governs as Vice President will not be affected by her family. She is like most mothers in this country who work full time and raise a family. The main difference in her and other mothers is she will have people who can help her with the children and household duties. She will not have to worry about losing her job or a day’s pay when one of the kids is sick. She can provide a good home, good schools, and most importantly, health insurance.

A woman as Vice President will be an inspiration to many women and young girls in this country and worldwide. It will prove and emphasize that “You can do anything you set your mind to and work hard to accomplish.”

I think she is very fortunate to be able to live the American Dream of most women. That is, to have a job of importance, where you can actually do something for the good of the people and the country and achieve self satisfaction while maintaining a normal happy family life.

A woman in power in this country will give a new perspective that is desperately needed. There are women in power in other countries and you do not hear them being criticized or questioned regarding their families. Men are never questioned in this manner and that only proves that sexual discrimination continues to prevail. What is the matter? Are men afraid that a woman can perform a job as good or better than they can? After all, mothers raise us all.

I think the fact that the Governor is standing by her daughter’s decision to marry the father of her unborn child and keep the baby is admirable. Some mothers would have demanded for her daughter to abort rather than running the risk of ruining her political career. We can only teach our children our values and morals, but we cannot completely control how they live their own lives after they have reached certain ages.

Look at the way the magazines and news media exploit all the unwed mothers in the entertainment field. They are treated like royalty and not one seems to get upset and belittle them. Young girls and boys look up to these entertainers and want to be like them. In fact, there was a group of teen girls not long ago that set out to get pregnant to be more like their idols.

Granted, no one wants their underage children to have babies out of wedlock. But it happens in the best of families and the babies are beautiful and loving. We have a child in our family who was born out of wedlock. She is beautiful, smart, and the absolute love of our lives.
