Odds and Statistics

We all look at society out the window of our own comfort zone. When that view is challenged, we tend to get a little uneasy. Let’s take this country for example ... we are in a recession! Basically a downward spiral that is a result of negligence. It’s really quite sad the way this country has become so desensitized. Murder, death, and tragedy, everywhere you look. It’s become apart of this culture that it almost feels like it has been accepted. You got the old school complaining about the new school, the new school complaining about the old school. The rich complain about the poor, and the poor complain about the rich! Either way, someone is choosing sides and thinking up rebuttals to justify his or her way of life. Most people are only concerned with increasing the quality of their own way of life rather then another’s. 

“We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” Now please tell me where in the prelude to our constitution does it say the words “Me” or “I”? Is the Constitution not the foundation to what this country is supposed to be built on? Why oh why does it feel so much like the opposite? Surveys are conducted to provide statistics on various topics. They’re also a way of gauging strengths and weaknesses if conducted properly. But are they truly conducted properly? If the statistics say so then it must be right! Right? The better the odds the higher the success rate! Right? Well then why in the United States of America as a whole do we not set ourselves up for success? 

In order to increase the odds of a prosperous future we need to invest in the adults of the future. We need to provide a stable and education enriched environment for our kids! Let’s face it there the ones that are going to take the baton from us as we continue this relay towards the results of future statistics. Guess what … if we take care of our kids now, they will become better parents and their kids’ odds of success will increase! You know what else will happen … crime rates will go down. The average teacher’s salary here in the USA is $40,000 dollars a year. Being how the majority of our country is money motivated I ask you, is that sending the right message. Does that statistic alone somewhat frighten you when looking at the big picture? I wonder how many more highly educated people would be more apt to strive to become teachers if the average salary was to be increased. I mean is a teacher not as important as a doctor? Is it not teachers that make doctors? 

There is no doubt that this world is filled with many problems, some much harder to cure then others! But as I look out my window, the most constant thing I see are misunderstood people filled in a confusing society. In order for things to change for the better it is “you” that is going to have to make some sacrifices. It is “you” that is going to have to improve the quality of our lives. It is “you” that is going to have to care more about what you see out your window then what you see in the mirror! God bless you all.
