From America all the way to Europe and Asia, the tradition of displaying Christmas lights ignites the holiday spirit. There’s nothing more festive than a shiny white strand around the roof or the colorful glow from an adorned tree. Yet some displays take it to the next level. Either blinding with their bling or wowing with their over-the-top wattage, these spectacular scenes provide some real yuletide glow.

This Christmas tradition may be partly due to one-upmanship, but we can still appreciate the creativity and holiday spirit of each country’s lights, as well as admire them at our own at home. Inspired to string a few more lights around the house? Go on then! Just don’t send me your electricity bill.
