I hated to put denim or any kind of stiff fabric on my boys when they were babies—teeny tiny denim overalls look sooooooo cute in the stores but just sooooooo uncomfortable on little ones. I always shopped for soft cotton basics for my own little men, and I do the same now for my friends when they have babies.

My absolute favorite source for cute and comfy clothing for teeny ones is a company called Tea Collection, and specifically their delicious line of mix and match 100 percent cotton knits called “Daily Tea.” It’s inspired by the everyday play of children (so they can actually wiggle in the fabrics), and offers the cutest prints, patterns, and color palettes with endless mix and match options to simplify life for new parents. I’ve bought the four, five, and six-piece sets as gifts and friends have raved that it’s like getting a full wardrobe in one gift. For example, parents can create nine cool outfit options from the six-piece set (which costs approximately $100). If only dressing as an adult could be the easy/inexpensive.

“Tea” has added a line of organic knit layette pieces this season that will also make for a great gift. I can see the card now—“a gift that is as gentle to the environment as it is to your little baby’s skin.” The collection is a soft palette of pearl pink and sky blue in a Tea signature print, inspired by vintage Japanese textiles. All items are machine washable.

Finally (can you tell I’m obsessed?), I have to mention their “Little Citizens” collection. I love the idea of gifts that give back, and by shopping Tea’s globally inspired “Little Citizens” collection, 50 percent of the proceeds of my sale go to supporting the Global Fund for Children. This season’s “Little Citizens” collection is inspired by the ancient Tuareg culture of Mali and it includes mali motifs and bold batik prints as well as Japanese indigo dyes. I might have to have a few more kids just so I can dress them in these outfits!!
