If your children are anything like mine, they love learning new things, even the most trivial facts like: What time is it in Tokyo right now? Or, how many moons does Jupiter have? My children get their curiosity honestly. I am always looking up something in the almanac, dictionary, or encyclopedia because there are simply so many things to learn in one day. I love discovering new tidbits to add to the storage bin under my skull, and now so do my daughters.
Time has come out with two new books that will keep little Einsteins riveted for weeks and all year, for that matter. Time for Kids World Atlas 2008 (Time for Kids) is brimming with 200 colorful photos, 50 unique and detailed maps, and facts from around the world. Any child would love this book for mind-stimulating educational entertainment and parents will love it, too. In fact, my daughter recently told me the state that has the most people and the state that has the least. Time effectively wove a plethora of information into a fun, child-friendly fashion that allows kids to learn geography without feeling overwhelmed by the content.
Time has also come out with Time for Kids Almanac 2008. Any fact your child may be interested in is fully covered in this almanac from what happened in history 50, 100 and 150 years ago to every country's flag, capital, government and monetary unit. I often find my oldest daughter sitting with the almanac intently reading new facts and then running to tell me the new trivia she has learned.
These books are definite must-haves for your kids this year. The new Time for Kids World Atlas and Almanac are perfect for any school-aged child. In fact, in my opinion, every child should own these two gems. They are not ony indispensible for class projects, they also spark the interest of young readers who are curious about the world around them.
