I’ve just found a new delicious and nutritious breakfast item. I, like most people, don’t have time to fuss with the most important meal of the day. However, I know that to maintain your health, it’s mandatory to start the day with a wholesome breakfast
Beginning with a soft bagel thin, I choose from a variety of toppings; this way, I can plan my preparation time according to my schedule.
“Late already” means pop the bagel in the toaster and add peanut butter or Nutella. I can eat it while stuffing essentials in my handbag.
“No time to spare” means I can take a minute to throw a slice of cheese and ham on a bagel thin and put it in the microwave for 20 seconds. Sometimes, I wrap this in foil and eat it on the way to work.
“Got up early” means I will scramble an egg in the microwave, wrap a piece of Canadian back bacon in a paper towel, and cook it in the microwave for one minute. I put it all on a toasted a bagel thin and add a slice of cheese. If I really did get up early and don’t have to rush, I will sit down and savor the tasty hot breakfast.
I know bagels have been on the market for years, but this is the first time I’ve encountered thin bagels that you can buy in a supermarket. They are available in plain, 100% whole wheat and “everything,” and each has only 110 calories per serving. They all contain fiber but no high-fructose corn syrup, no artificial sweeteners, no trans fats, and no cholesterol and are low in fat.
The Thomas website, www.thomasbagelthins.com, offers a few recipes, but it’s easy to put your favorite ingredients together for a personalized breakfast sandwich.
