As anyone who’s ever accompanied me to a grocery store or seen the top of my fridge can attest to, I’m a big fan of cereal. Not for breakfast, oddly enough—I’m an oatmeal loyalist—but at any other time of day, a big bowl of cereal always sounds satisfying. However, one type rarely does it for me; I crave the kind of variety that requires drawing from a few different boxes, which isn’t good for the environment or my wallet. Then I heard about a Web site called [me]&goji that offers customizable cereals and granola.
Wait, what? You mean there’s a company that lets me, nay, encourages me to throw all types of cereal, nuts, and dried fruit I could ever want into a bowl? It’s like somebody’s been reading my diary!
Seriously, [me]&goji is doing great things for cereal connoisseurs. You choose from over fifty ingredients to design the cereal of your dreams. Many of them are organic and all of them are made with natural, minimally processed ingredients, including ones you’d never see in the cereal aisle—chocolate covered goji berries, brazil nuts, spelt flakes, and chia seeds, just to name a few. Even better, you can click on ingredients to read about their health benefits. The easy-to-navigate Web site also updates the nutrition facts of your personal mix whenever you add or subtract an ingredient.
My mix was chosen after careful deliberation (read: more time than I’d like to admit). This is what I decided on: samurai wheat, dried strawberries and currents, goji berries, flax, quinoa flakes, cinnamon, artisanal cereal, pistachios and pecans, and healthy hoops. Everything tasted fresh and had just the right amount of sweetness; nothing artificial or chemical-laden about it. For someone who enjoys a plethora of tastes in every bowl of cereal, it doesn’t get much better than this.
Along with my cereal capsule, the company included a sample of a pre-made mix, Adam’s Apple, a blend of flax flakes, pumpkin seeds, dried apple, cinnamon, dried cranberries, and goji berries. It was definitely a winner! My package also came with a few mulberries and goldenraisins to try. I love that [me]&goji suggests ingredients and cereals they think their customers might like. It’s a personal touch that I really appreciate.
By offering such a wide variety of healthful, unique ingredients, filling and shipping my order speedily, and giving me extra goodies to go along with my mix, [me]&goji earned themselves a lifelong fan. Plus, they donate some of their profits to charity and have a great return policy should you be unhappy with your purchase (though I can’t imagine that happening). I’m already eager to experiment with a new mix! Or maybe I’ll go with a pre-made kind—clearly they know good cereal.
