I’ve never been a big cold cereal eater but in the summer months, hot oatmeal is not really appealing. I always eat breakfast but find the lack of time in morning dictates my choice. Grabbing a whole grain English muffin with peanut butter works well but how many muffins can a person eat without getting tired of them?
So, I browsed the cereal aisle in my local supermarket and began reading labels. There is so much hype about “sugary” cereals that I had the impression that nutritional cereal would be hard to find. Indeed there were rows of boxes filled with little more than sugar. Then, I ran across Post Raisin Bran, which sounded promising. The face of the box stated “whole grain wheat and bran cereal.” Reading the list of Nutritional Facts provided further evidence that this cereal was going to be good for me. Each bowl would have lots of vitamins, minerals, protein, and the very important fiber. The generous portions of Sun Maid raisins add iron and the non-fat milk has other nutritional qualities including calcium.
As for the taste, they are very good!
I now eat them for breakfast, although I haven’t totally sidelined my whole grain muffin. I also have the Post Raisin Bran for an afternoon or evening snack. They are a healthful way to beat the “munchies” that we all suffer from occasionally.
