A Better Back

When back pain strikes, who has time to lie in bed? We found a simple, effective way to ease the pain without putting your life on hold.

Called A Better Back, it’s a lumbar support pillow that can be worn like a backpack if you’re on the go, or strapped onto a chair if you’re working at a desk. You can use it everyday as a gentle reminder not to slouch (sitting up straight allows for deeper breathing and more oxygen to the brain, which is great right around 4:00 p.m. when our energy levels always seem to plummet). The pillow comes with two thermal packs, one for the microwave and one for the freezer. So when pain flares up, you can alternate between hot and cold therapy – a proven method to relieve all types of soreness and muscle tension.

Inventor Claudia Rimoli designed the pillow after her own troubles with debilitating back pain. Now she takes care of her back without toning down her energetic life, which lately has Claudia rallying support for a local women’s shelter and championing the Darius Goes West Foundation (A Better Back donates a percentage of sales to this organization that raises awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy).

Gio wrote to tell us about A Better Back. He says the pillow changed his life — so much so that he went to work with Claudia. Now he’s helping spread the word about A Better Back so more of us can enjoy life without being sidelined by back pain.
