Being different will not win you any popularity contests. It actually may make you less popular. I feel the reason people do not want to be different from the crowd is that they are afraid. The Bible tells us “there is no fear in love: true love has no room for fear, because where fear is, there is pain; and he who is not free from fear is not complete in love.”
One way of being different is to love being alone. While alone, you can focus on things you love. Read a book or watch a good movie. The best activity may be taking a walk or riding a bicycle. Another way to be different is to love seeing other people having a good time and not feel like you are missing out on the fun. If you are jealous of someone else’s life you, are wasting away your own life. If you don’t like being alone, enjoy life by connecting to like-minded individuals. I like to go to football games to be around others that like going to the game. I can connect to how everyone else feels about the game. I can even feel good about the game even when my team loses since it is the love of the game that matters. I know some fans can’t feel that way and I feel sorry for them since they feel more about how they feel than the enjoyment of the game. Love the game, regardless of the outcome is my motto.
