The start of another new year regularly brings with it great optimism and hope. Many of us will make at least one New Year’s resolution that we have every intention of seeing through, this time around. But having good intentions alone doesn’t lead to significant accomplishments. There has to be some type of focus and consistent action to transform good intentions into achievements. For me, they are not resolutions; instead I call them “New Year’s Inspirations.”
While I appreciate the idea of a fresh start that the unwrapping of a new calendar provides, it seems a bit strange to me that we should wait until the calendar reads January 1st to make positive changes in our lives. In reality, every day gives us the same opportunity to adjust our daily routines or mental outlooks and enhance our life experiences. If the start of a new year can provide the necessary motivation, that is certainly a good thing but what if it’s not? Have you ever felt you are in the crossroad or junction of your life? Wondering if you made the right decisions in your life?
I would like to share a very interesting note to everyone, something to reflect upon: LIFE ~ What Is It About? Life isn’t about keeping score. It’s not about how many friends you have, or how many people call you. Or how accepted or unaccepted you are, not about if you have plans this weekend, or if you’re alone. It isn’t about who you’re dating, who you used to date, how many people you’ve dated, or if you haven’t been with anyone at all. It isn’t about whom you have kissed, or what kind of car you drive, or where you are sent to school. It’s not about how beautiful or ugly you are, or what clothes you wear, what shoes you have, or what kind of music you listen to. It’s not about if your hair is blonde, red, black, brown or purple, or if your skin is too light or too dark. Not about what grades you get, how smart you are, how smart everybody else thinks you are, or how smart standardized tests say you are. Or if you are the teacher’s favorite, or what clubs you’re in, or how good you are at “your” sport. It’s not about representing your whole being on a piece of paper and seeing who will accept the written you. Life just isn’t.
