Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

Let’s get real. Life can be pretty crappy at times. It’s okay. You can admit it. I give you permission to quit pretending like your life is perfect. I doubt anyone believes it anyway. You’re probably not fooling anyone but yourself!  And . . .  if you really do have it all together, then we need to talk because I desperately need some pointers. Honey, you need to clue me in!

For those of you joining me on this journey to live LIFE INTERACTIVE, it’s time for us to be authentic. It’s time to take a long, hard look at ourselves in the mirror and let down our guard. I challenge you to look in the mirror and tell yourself—“I’m NOT perfect, and it’s okay!” Say it over and over until it sticks. Rinse. Lather. Repeat.

We’re highly critical of ourselves, aren’t we? We’re usually our own worst enemy, but I’m learning that if I lighten up on myself, it’s very freeing. I heard a guy say he was trying to overcome being an “Approval Junkie.” We probably all struggle with needing approval at certain times in our lives. We don’t want to disappoint. We get caught up in the “shoulda, woulda, coulda” trap. We think things like - I should do this or if only I would have done that. I could be doing this or I need to be doing that. Too often we’re trapped by doing what we think others are expecting us to do. We want to be people pleasers. It’s okay to please others, but if you’re spending more time worried over the “shoulda, woulda and coulda” dilemma, then you’re paralyzed by what other people think. I’ve struggled with this myself, but guess what? I’ve finally realized that I can’t please everyone. Neither can you. As I tell my son, just do the best you can, and that’s good enough. None of us are perfect. Accept it, and move on.

I want you to shine your light, sing your song, dance to your beat and LIVE your life. Be yourself, and enjoy being YOU. Live life to the best of your ability, and try not to worry too much what other people think. We’re not perfect, and it’s okay! Lighten up on yourself, and love yourself for who you are. I’m sure you have many great qualities. Embrace those great qualities about yourself and CELEBRATE BEING YOU! Now, go treat yourself to a facial. You deserve it!
