While we are all influenced at times by how we perceive others think about us, it can become destructive when we allow it to control the way we feel about ourselves.
Mama Gena in her book, Mama Gena’s School of Womanly Arts states, “For most of us, our margin of self-confidence is often so slim that a drop of anyone else’s disapproval sends us into the chute of negativity and self-doubt. Self-criticism keeps us weak and malleable; it allows us to give our power away to others.”
The thoughts and feeling that you hold about yourself are what make you uniquely you and sublimely brilliant! If you give that power away to others, you lose your ability to harness your true beauty and brilliance.
The only way for you to not care so much is for you to make up your mind that you are not going to care so much. Of course this will take time, practice, discipline, and persistence. But, once you realize that you have the power to decide how you are going to react to the things in your life, you will empower yourself to live your life as you define it and the rewards will be abundant.
You will never be able to control what others think about you. Even when you feel you look good, someone may still talk about you behind your back. The only thing you can control is how you define your self-worth.
