I have to be honest—I haven’t heard a good joke in years, but just little everyday things make me chuckle. For example, my three-and-a-half-year-old really says and does the funniest things. Without a clue and so innocently, he brings such joy to me. I was making spaghetti and meatballs the other night and he came into the kitchen, inquiring as to not only what I was doing, but was also interested in what I was cooking. I told him what I was making and he asked to cook with me. Fortunately, dinner was complete, so I found a small pot and scooped in some macaroni and a meatball for him.
He was quite happy with this (and very serious!) and went about, stirring and “cooking” his spaghetti and meatballs! Last night, he amazed me by saying, “Last but not least”—appropriately, I must say! He and my hubby were playing a game where they had to crawl through a mountain of stuffed animals until they came to the “finish line.” I guess our little guy came in second, and that’s what he said, “Last but not least!” I couldn’t contain myself—how did he know how and when to apply this phrase? So hilarious!
Another favorite thing that brings tears (of happiness, of course) to my eyes is this little thing a friend and I do—we’ll create crazy scenarios out of the most humdrum stories or life situations and continue to add to them until we’ve totally exhausted the scenarios. You should hear these! Sometimes we have to actually stop ourselves because they can become really, really ridiculous and absolutely unbelievable!
Ha, ha, ha ... laughter is so entirely amazing. It makes us feel good, serves as free therapy, and at times can make us double over in pain if the joke was just that good!
