Think for Yourself and Be Smarter (Part 1)

I was at the market today and the gals at the register were having a conversation.

I was surprised; it’s not often that I run into someone who has read one of my articles. Nobody knows me and people are always trying to find out exactly who I am. This I know, but there are no pictures of me. So people, like in this case, are just generally talking about an article they read without knowing it was me who wrote it.

I never really think much about what I write after it’s written. I tend to believe not too many people read what I write as it tends to be. Things people do not want to read. And I do insert my own politics into my writing and I do try to engage readers to take action on their own. I also tend to think that not many men read my writings. I am an advocate of children and women period.

So anyways they were talking and I joined in, and yes, I did tell them I wrote the article. Why not? It’s not very often that I get someone who has read one of my books or writings, so it felt good.

Any ways the conversation was about people thinking for themselves and not allowing those who they deem smarter than them to think for them. Now I am guilty of this myself. I feel most people are much smarter than I. I tend to think other people have better points of view than I. I tend to open my mouth and insert foot a lot. But I’m okay with it. Here’s why.

I believe I think for myself and speak for most. I tend to believe all people have good intentions. You just have to bring it out. I was told by a Catholic brother, Doug, in Memphis. A person whom I felt much more understanding and knowing than I.

He told me something I found to be very profound as I am not a fundamentalist. My belief in GOD comes from within me and is not brought about be others. I believe as I do from life experience. My experience in life does not afford me to just believe it compels me to search deep within me. And know me not what other people say I am supposed to believe. I was born a certain way with no choice of how I was born. And I have had to live with it and find peace within my life. So I could continue forward with life.

He told me a Christian is a person who does what they believe to be right in their heart. In other words, guided by their heart. And through the years I have found this to be true. Women are more guided by their heart and can believe without seeing simply because they bear children. They believe different then men and learn to care for something other than themselves before a child is born. This single act of being woman. Brings women understanding that can not be achieved by men.

Women also tend to be lead more by their heart in all aspects of their life. They usually do not allow another to think for them. Though it sometimes appears this way. Some decisions in life can be tough. Like today at the market they had the town house crackers on sale the original and the new two sided pretzel and cracker this was a tough choice I did not want two I wanted one. The original fat grams were ten more than the two-sided. So what am I to do? Doctor says cut out fat, I say okay, I’ll try and I buy the original it took me about ten minutes to make this choice alone a guy would get them both we would argue and he would get mad and get the one he liked and we would be happy. With either.

So sometimes it appears we let others think for us but we already know. Kinda like going to a restaurant we know what we want. We just don’t want to say hey Macaroni Grill buddy and I want the Veal Parmesan. And lots of rosemary bread and if I can get one in my purse without anyone knowing I will.

So as I was saying before, I distracted myself. See girls and guys I get lost a lot and one of those navigation things won’t work on me.

Anyways I have long said there are forces around us that do not want us to think for ourselves. And indeed we are losing it and giving it away. And in a lot of cases to people who do not have our best interest at heart or our families. They want us to think as they do. And they feel us inferior to them because they know that the poorly educated and poor at heart and mind people can be controlled and lead like no other. When you take a survey did you ever wonder why they ask about education? It’s because people with a college education answer questions different than those without. Kinda of also like women and men they each answer the same question different because of gender.

Women tend to give an explanation for why they feel as they do. Guys just walk away not caring to elaborate on a question. Usually simple to the point answer. Of course unless you are talking about sex or food.

Same with why they ask your income. Poor people do things from a different perspective than the rich and lot at things and life different. Poor people are less likely to kill themselves if they loose their home or a car or anything of value. Because us poor people do not value like rich people.

Christian leaders and religious leaders around the world are the best at this. They impose their ideas on the rest of us and those who are easily lead and a very large amount follow them and will walk right off a cliff for them. Believing they can fly.
