I’ve just returned from a mini-break of pure bliss. I am very plugged into the world, both metaphorically and literally. Last weekend was different. I was whisked away to a little town outside of Cape Town and usually when I leave town, everything technology-driven comes along. Cell phone, iPod, MacBook etc. Not this time though.
I “accidentally” left my charger as well as MacBook behind.
My daily routine entails me checking email at least thrice a day and with my Smart phone, I am able to check oh too easily. Accidentally forgetting the charger meant I was unplugged from all means of communication and I confess that I “panicked” for a brief moment and then, I stopped.
Bliss.
Taking the time to unplug and recharge is important and I seem to have forgotten this. I had time to think, reflect, read and compose my literally works of artistic expression in the form of poetry (”,).
I also had time to play with the kitties and doggies residing at the B&B we stayed at and add to that, connecting with horses (which I think I am allergic to).
I feel energized.
Lesson: taking the time to unplug from society, technology etc. allows one to reflect. Reflection is important for growth and development of the self as the self perpetuates inspiration, motivation and drive needed in all other spheres of our lives. Sometimes we fear the solitude and spending time with ourselves as we are uncertain of what we will find.
This is …okay.
Go on and take the risk to discover the you that is waiting to re-emerge. The yukkiness that emerges first will be far outweighed by the new and improved you, just wait and see.
Take it easy,
Shana
