All I Want Is ...

After years of questioning karma and my quiet private spirtiuality, I agree that karma, the cycle of cause and effect, is alive and real. I thought I may never live to experience this realization that everyone seems to talk about with much passion.

Indeed, our deeds actively shape our past, present, and future experiences. So, may we all produce good Karma through good thoughts, words, actions that we perform ourselves, and through actions others do under our instructions.

Nevertheless, life's mysteries continue to make we wonder and wander. And some bland words of wisdom from my fortune cookie one day, left me thinking about why we always want more.

It said something to the effect of...and I can't quote perfectly ...that we cease to enjoy the things we love, if we want even more.

But I beg to differ! If I didn't want more, I would feel unambitious and dim. So here is how I feel … so perfectly related by Jack London.

I would rather be ashes than dust!
I would rather that my spark should burn out in a brilliant blaze than it should be stifled by dry rot.
I would rather be a superb meteor, every atom of me in magnificent glow, than a sleepy and permanent planet.
The proper function of man is to live, not to exist.
I shall not waste my days in trying to prolong them. I shall use my time.”
