Being Poor Is Hell, Part Two

In my last article I wrote about how hard it was to get a vehicle even after I had re-established myself credit wise by paying my car loan on-time for over three years.

I finally was called with a plan that I thought was a great plan for me. I was told I could make payments on the down payment and I was approved, I was happy I would have transportation for me and my son finally.

Boy was I taken for a fool big time, and I need help, which is why I am spreading the word.

The dealership sold me a car that had been in a previous accident and was never fixed, the back bumper was replaced and that was it. The damage to the rear end support and muffler were never fixed.

Not only that, my car has a hole(s) somewhere in the bottom of it, which allowed the recent storm to give me a swamp in the back floor and trunk of my car. In other words, I have a Lemon and under the Lemon Law, the car is one year too old to file a claim. This dealership never wanted to process my paper for the title and registration and now I know why, they knew of the damage to the car. They knew it would not pass inspection and now I am in a fight with them, a fight I need help with.

I had to finally get the finance company to call and have them process the paper work. See since the dealership had not processed the paper work, the finance company did not have the title, which would hold the lien on the car for the loan they had extended to me. They sent the paper work to me, for me to file when they have people come down everyday to file their paper work in my state. I have filed two complaints with the State Of Pennsylvania Department of Compliance but that will take time.

Until then I will have to receive phone calls from them like the one I got the other day telling me they are going to bring the police to my house to take the car because they have not received the remaining $650.00 of the $2000.00 down payment for the car. You know and I know that I would be stupid to pay it. It would be an admission of my accepting the terms of the car as it is.

The first question would be: Why Did You Keep Paying Them? So, no. If I had paid for the car on my credit card, I could have them charge it back until the dispute was settled and not pay for it in my bill.

The proper and legal way they are suppose to get their money is by placing a lien against the car and get paid when the car is paid off. Obviously they have done this more than one time, people do not do things like this just once and I am sick of people thinking they can treat someone like me, someone who had credit issues, however they want That I am suppose to accept whatever is given to me and not complain about it.

The main reason people like the people at the car dealership are treating me this way is because no one has ever complained about them. When you do not have anyone to stand up for you it is hard to fight the good fight. How are people like me suppose to ever get ahead in life, we work hard to get into a better financial situation and are treated as if we are criminals. I am so tired of it and I am trying to fight back but I can’t do it alone.

Right now, there is about $2000.00 worth of repairs needed for the car and I am not the one to have my money played with. But you know it is a sign of how people treat you based upon certain facts of your life.

I did take it to a mehcanic well within the warranty time frame they refused to call me back. My article is about how you have these car dealerships taking advantage of people like myself. The ones who need hlep because the whole economic situation got blown out the door with the mortgage sitatuation. Trust on this I was doing fine before the car accident, how could I know that Wall St. would destroy what I had rebuilt. So I'm just sayin I did take it to a mechanic, know this, we all have rights, but places and people like whom I am dealing with pray for people who do not know they have rights. Even when you need help credit wise you still have the right to be treated fairly, it is the LAW and that is owning up to my own responsibility in all of this......Sha...

So they offered you a car and you didn't take it to a mechanic to have it checked out? I agree you got a bum deal but you have to take responsibility for your part in your troubles. I'm just sayin...next time. KWIM.
