What Men Want/What Women Want

The Knight in Shining Armor—Let’s face it, women don’t like wimps. We want a man to protect us from danger, defend our honor, and carry our heavy groceries (not necessarily in that order). We want a strong man in our corner. Not that we’ll test him, but we basically want him to be able to kick someone’s butt if it comes down to that.

The Perfect Man—Does he exist? Some seem to have found him. This is the guy who fits a good chunk of the checklist items of what we want in a man. Handsome? Check. Got a job? Check. Watches chick flicks without complaining? Check. He may have some little quirks that we think are cute, but overall he’s all that, and then some. Sometimes he’s right in front of us and we don’t even realize it.

Stereotypes straight out of the 50's, and blatant sexism. Congratulations on offending both men and women in a simple two page post. Where are the smart women? What about slutty men? Are all men so infantile that they must get their mama's approval before committing to their lady love? For shame. Much ink and pixels have gone into tearing down these double standards, so I'll leave it at a passing mention. Most people have the characteristics of all categories and we sometimes embody them all in a single relationship. Even the ones that supposedly are the domain of the other sex. I can rock your world like a pro after charming the pants off of everyone in the room, discussing Soviet-era literature, playing hard to get, acting tough to show my chops, and passively letting him pick the restaurant. I am then able clean up nicely to go meet mom. I may even watch my potty mouth around her. Rumor has it, I'm rather a knockout, to boot. Maybe you can get a job at Cosmo.

Yes, this article does need a conclusion. That said; I loved it and thought it was right on. I saw myself in three of those descriptions. (I guess that's the annoying thing about us women; always changing our minds, LOL.)

I am really glad this article was FINALLY written! It's about time we had someone explain to us the five categories of people. Now I know that when I'm out on my next first date, I can just ask, "Which of these five are you?" I suppose the answer will be quick and easy, as it is impossible to have qualities belonging to more than one category. Ah, the joys of labeling! (I give this article zero stars.)

some of these types seem to overlap / not cover everything
It feels good to write.
