Looking at the Fall Equinox chart for Washington DC—the Sun enters Libra on Sep 22nd at 5:18:30 p.m. EDT—there is reason to be a bit optimistic about this next quarter. It is a fact that the struggle between reform and holding on to the status quo is still very much at work (Uranus opposes Saturn) but there seems to be an opportunity for progress.

Finances are still shaky and unpredictable. We are told that the recession is over, but there remains much uncertainty around that. Uranus is known for disruption and we should all be ready for more shake up.
However, Uranus, being the symbol of innovation, may provide unexpected wealth to those who dare being unconventional. In fact Uranus rules the chart, as the ruler of the Aquarius Ascendant. Financial rewards are there for those who invent ways to serve the greater good (Uranus in Pisces in house of resources).
So why the optimism? Jupiter symbol of expansion, progress, philosophy is very prominent in this Equinox chart (on the Ascendant, in Aquarius conjunct Chiron and Neptune). The country’s image is ready for healing (Chiron) and to be seen as more progressive and more concerned with improving the standards of our society. Jupiter also influences the direction and execution of the plan (Jupiter rules the Equinox Mid-Heaven). With awareness to control excesses and with proper emphasis in the financial sector, the USA can potentially be once again the innovator nation it has been know for. That is if progress wins over the rigid old mind set. Note that the Jupiter of the Equinox chart highlights Obama’s natal chart, further empowering him.
The people and masses are particularly emotional at the moment (Moon is Scorpio trine mars in Cancer and trine Uranus as well). Unfortunately, so far we have seen the worst expression of this configuration with explosive display of emotionally based anger. But that same passion can also be channeled for the greater good, as Mars in Cancer on the cusp of 6th house of health is determined to find security, nurture, and protection.
