On December 1, 2008, Monday, a holiday in the Philippines, I set foot in white sands on none other than Boracay Island. The company sent me for a short vacation, at all expense from transportation, hotel stay, and allowance. It was awesome!
Long ago, I was just dreaming of being here (yes, the time I wrote this, I’m still here, I’m staying at La Carmela Hotel) and now, I’m walking under my feet.
Gee, I almost awake at early 1:30 a.m. for my flight schedule, going to airport, waiting at the airport and the boarding itself. The usual plane session. Arriving at the terminal at Caticlan, traveling by tricycle 50 php going to Jetty Port, paying your terminal fee for 25 php, environmental fee 25 php (thank God someone assisted me, the company asked me to bring the Plainer construction tools at the site; it was so heavy and I’m also carrying my one bag and a pouch bag. You need to give him some tip I gave only 20 php, I think that’s the considerable amount to give.)
For my first day, together with my friend Lovely Racel, we went to the site first, our project Asya 2 Boracay Resort. She is the assigned project engineer together with Ronald. She’s been here for almost four months already. I saw the eight regular casitas and two presidential; they were almost finished but need to be furnished more since construction is very detailed. I took some of the pictures and then headed for our hotel afterward.
We ate lunch at Mang Inasal, a pecho of chicken and unlimited rice with my favorite pineapple juice for only 150 php. Then we haggled with the souvenir items along the mall. You can buy those sea-like magnets, seven pieces for 100 php. And since Christmas is coming, I bought here gifts to give to friends.
I took a nap in the afternoon.
And when Racel came back, we went to the Holy Rosary Parish (I make three wishes; it is said that the first time you visit a church, you have to make a wish and it comes true, mine for the past years were granted). We went to the grotto in the afternoon and took some pictures.
In the evening, Ronald came and three of us ate dinner at buffet of La Carmela. I ate rice again, the tahong (I dunno how they call it) soup, and the dessert of fruit salad. Our tummies were so heavy that three of us decided to walk along station 2 to ease the heaviness, sightseeing the stores alongside, took pictures of beautiful sala, kitchen area, lobster, boat that we saw while walking. (See those pics in my album.)
At night, Racel and I went to the beach and I was wearing my two-piece, the red one. It was the first time I wore that suit and I was really fine with my body. It was high tide then, the waves of the water were so large that they can splashed me lightly. (Hahaha!)
Back in our room, we ordered French fries and it was delivered after some twenty minutes while watching movie. It tastes so good, very homely.
Tired with the long day walking and walking, we slept at past twelve already.
I might miss the island hopping because I don’t have companion, since Racel went to the site to work. So I went this net to check with my personal email and office email for my second day.
Rent for net run 50 per hour and 25–30 half hour. I surfed the net for two hours. I went upstairs to take my hat and sunglasses and headed for station 3. I saw the sandcastle made by Mr. Boy Caspaño and took pictures. Someone approached me and offered me a sculpture of Jesus; I choose the Inri one and haggled it for 150 php only.
