My husband and I go to the Caribbean every summer. I wish I could live there year-round. Of course, I would want to be wealthy enough to own a jet to provide an express route back to the states when a hurricane is on the horizon. Outside of this, there is nothing I enjoy more than spending time on an island in the Caribbean or even on a yacht on the ocean in the Caribbean. I have always stated that I hope there is a way I will be able to visit each island within the Caribbean before I die. Therefore, each year I would choose a new island. My outlook on life changed after a trip in 2007.
In 2007, we spent a week at Gran Bahia Principe in Punta Cana DR. Upon arrival, I was very pleased with the service and the place was absolutely beautiful in every possible way. We were checked in very swiftly and then taken by tram to our villa, which was near the beach. As we road the tram to our villa, I couldn’t help but notice how well manicured this resort was. Everything, and yes, I mean everything within this entire resort was spotless and I was looking at every possible nook and cranny for anything that could possibly need some attention in any possible manor. There was nothing that needed to be done. Nothing that had been unkept.
This place is enormously huge. It has over 620 rooms that contain everything you want and more, eight restaurants, four pools, bars all over the place, tennis, golf, spa, fitness center, an entertainment show every night, a disco, a shopping mall, a crystal clean white sandy beach that is always clean and always has enough chairs to sit in the location of your choice. Everything was in excellent condition. I was extremely impressed. This was by far the best place we have ever seen. The food, service, and atmosphere was perfect.
After spending a week there, my husband asked me, “Do you still want to go to other islands after this one?” I said, “Well, of course.” He responded, “What could another island have that this island didn’t? I said, “That is not the issue. The issue is, I want to see them all. I don’t know what else is out there until I have been there.”
This year, we went to the Atlantis resort on Paradise Island in the Bahamas. This is the place where all the celebrities go. You will see several different celebs there every day. Million-dollar yachts, too. Yes, it is a place like no other. A multi-billion-dollar resort, something you should look up online just to see it. Absolutely breathtaking … yet, it still doesn’t compare to the resort in Punta Cana. After our week at the Atlantis resort, my husband told me, “Next year, I would like to go back to Punta Cana. I just don’t think we will ever find any resort we enjoy more than we did in Punta Cana.” I agreed.
We fell in love with the Gran Bahia Principe in Punta Cana. There was absolutely nothing we would change or add to this resort or the time we spent there. Yes, we will be going there in 2009 and possibly every year after. My outlook on life has been changed. I no longer desire to see every island in the Caribbean. I just want to go back to the one I fell in love with.
